How often should a wound be debrided?

Most chronic wounds benefit from debridement at every clinical visit — typically once per week — until healthy granulation tissue covers the wound bed. Studies show that wounds debrided weekly heal significantly faster than wounds debrided less often. Debridement removes the biofilm and devitalized tissue that block healing.
