Healix360 supports access to advanced mobile wound care services for patients throughout our coverage area. Services are delivered by licensed physicians and nurse practitioners experienced in the evaluation and management of chronic and complex wounds. Care is coordinated and provided directly to patients in private residences, assisted living communities, and skilled nursing facilities. During the visit, the clinician uses a secure, HIPAA-compliant clinical device to photograph the wound alongside a calibrated measurement reference. Specialized software calculates the exact surface area (length x width) and often the depth and volume. This digital record creates a precise healing trajectory. If the data shows the wound is not reducing in size by at least 10-15% per week, it objectively signals the clinician that the current therapy is failing and an advanced intervention (like a skin substitute) is required.

What to expect

At the beginning of each visit, after the old dressing is removed and the wound is cleaned, the clinician will place a small paper ruler near the wound and take a quick photograph using a secure clinical tablet or smartphone. This takes only seconds and involves no physical contact.

Absolutely. All clinical photographs are captured using encrypted, HIPAA-compliant software. The images are stored securely in your electronic medical record, never on the clinician's personal device.

Why do you take a picture every single week?

Chronic wounds can change slowly. Weekly photography allows us to objectively track millimeter-level progress or deterioration that might be missed by the naked eye, ensuring your treatment plan is always optimized.

How do you measure the depth of the wound?

The clinician uses a sterile, soft-tipped cotton swab (Q-tip) to gently probe the deepest part of the wound and any tunnels under the skin edges. This measurement is then recorded alongside the surface area.

Who else sees these photographs?

The images are part of your medical record. They are used by our clinical team, and may be securely shared with your primary care physician, vascular surgeon, or insurance provider to coordinate your care and authorize advanced treatments.

What happens if the measurements show the wound isn't shrinking?

If the wound area fails to decrease significantly over a 2 to 4 week period, the clinician uses this objective data to justify stepping up your care plan to include advanced therapies like bioengineered skin substitutes.
